Our Doctors / Practitioners

Dr. Bradley Matthews
Registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Dr.TCM)
Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac)

Dr. Brad Matthews’ expertise is in the treatment of pain due to physical trauma and sports injuries, as well as chronic pain. He has done post-graduate training with well-known TCM Sports Medicine practitioners such as Matt Callison, Whitfield Reeves, and Robert Chu. He is also trained in acupuncture injection therapies, trigger point therapies, biopuncture and mesotherapy. Additionally, he is well experienced with gynecological and menstrual difficulties and menopausal conditions.

Therapeutic Background

Dr. Matthews began his formal studies in traditional Chinese medicine in 1996, at the prestigious Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences in Nelson, BC.  His training included four years of full-time study, followed by a four-month internship at two different hospitals in Beijing, China.

Although TCM is many thousands of years old, it continues to evolve. In order to offer the highest level of holistic health-care, Dr. Matthews is continually studying and participating in advanced courses and workshops that explore new developments in this field. He has been a registrant in good standing of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of BC (CTCMA) since 2001, and has been extensively involved with the regulation of Chinese medicine and the CTCMA since 2003.

Personal History

Dr. Matthews was lucky enough to travel extensively in his early 20’s. One of his favourite destinations was Asia, and he developed a keen interest in Eastern culture and philosophy. As his interest grew, he found himself drawn to traditional Chinese philosophies, particularly Taoism and Buddhism.

He continues to have an interest in Taoism and Buddhism, as well as a love of physical exercise. He plays golf and soccer, practices Yoga and Tai Ji (Tai Chi), works out regularly, and gets tremendous satisfaction from helping his patients achieve their own health and wellness goals.

Luke Lin

Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner (R.TCM.P)
Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac)

Luke Lin has been practicing TCM for more than 15 years. He worked as rehabilitation doctor in Taiwan, with specialization in neurologic rehabilitation and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. He is well trained in the field of neurologic and musculoskeletal system disorders from the point of both conventional Western medicine and Traditional Chinese medicine and has experienced success working with “difficult to treat” disorders such as stroke, post-traumatic pain syndrome, psychosomatic disorders, insomnia, depression, neurosis, and macular degeneration.

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that “Acupuncture has been proved - through controlled trials - to be an effective treatment” for stroke. In fact, Luke’s own clinical experience and many research studies done in China have all indicated that TCM and Acupuncture treatment can promote the recovery of injured brain tissue, enhance the activities of daily living (ADL) and improve the quality of life in stroke patients.

Luke also has expertise in the treatment of psychosomatic disorders, which are mental disorders that cause somatic (physical) symptoms. He points out that TCM has a strong background in the treatment of psychosomatic disorders, as psychology and physiology have been always considered as a whole and treated together in TCM. In Luke’s experience, emotional and physical problems can be simultaneously resolved when the energy flow of the body is strong and balanced via TCM and /or acupuncture.

Lancy Cho

Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner  (R. TCM. P)

Lancy is a Canadian born Chinese who is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. She grew up on Vancouver Island where she attended the University of Victoria. At UVIC she studied psychology as well as Chinese culture and Literature.

When asked why she is pursuing a career in Traditional Chinese Medicine

(TCM) instead of furthering her studies in Psychology or Chinese literature. She replied the she believes that TCM is the best integration of psychology, culture and medicine because a patient’s emotions are considered major internal causes of disease in TCM, while ancient medical texts reveal cultural lifestyles, habits and beliefs.

With her background in psychology, she has a keen interest in treating patients with insomnia, stress, anxiety, addictions and other psychological disorders. In the mean time she is studying at PCU College of Holistic to become Dr. TCM. She will also be finishing her degree shortly at UVIC with a Bachelor of Arts, and pursing to achieve a Bachelor of Health Sciences.  She has been trained in highly specialized techniques for Cosmetic acupuncture and acupuncture for detoxification.

Lancy believes that TCM and conventional Western medicine can work hand in hand to bring about a healthcare system where patients get the most effective treatment
