Traditional Chinese Medicine Book Reference
With review:
Maciocia, Giovanni. The Foundations of Chinese Medicine: A Comprehensive Text for Acupuncturists and Herbalists.
This is a very detailed book on TCM theory, diagnosis, and treatment. It describes the various patterns that can be found in each internal organ, and the cause and symptoms of each one. The pathways of the twelve primary meridians are discussed, as well as the extraordinary vessels. The use of the acupuncture points is explained, including the methods of treatment. This book goes very in depth and is recommended for those who have some basic knowledge of TCM.
Thambirajah, Radha. Cosmetic Acupuncture: A TCM approach to cosmetic and dermatological problems.
This is an excellent book explaining the diagnosis and treatment of cosmetic and dermatological disorders, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. The TCM theory that provides the reasoning for the various methods of treatment regarding skin problems is discussed. There is an informative chapter on the different skin types, which explains the traits of each type. The book also offers illustrations on the various needling techniques, and clearly describes how to use acupuncture for skin disorders.
Kaptchuk, Ted. The Web That Has No Weaver : Understanding Chinese Medicine.
This book contains information on the theory and practice of Chinese medicine. It thoroughly explains Chinese medical terms and ideas, and is a great book for those who are unfamiliar with the topic of TCM. Ted Kaptchuk does an incredible job of explaining TCM concepts in western terms, therefore, making TCM easier to understand for those of us who are only familiar with western medical principles.
